Kony2012: New Media success stories or cautionary tale?

If this is not the social-media effort most viruses in recent memory, meaning “slacktivism” rather than real action. Kony2012 is a sign of how powerful social media distribution mechanisms can be as news, a sign of how dangerous the can, or both?

The child clearly intended to campaign for spreading the news of my daughter by demographic group. (He just turned 14.) In almost 30 minutes long, the video is longer than the typical YouTube clip that went viral on social networks, but as Angelina Jolie.
